Movement Director
Within the social context of a play, physical realisations need to be embodied by the actor. Performance and theatre is engaging with the exciting trend of investigating fully, how the actor should move. There is a need to break down the physical score of the piece and interpret the physical attributes inherent in the work. Movement should aim to be ante-theatrical in order to be believable; from here, however, a response to stylised movement for theatrical purposes can also be made. In order to support this notion, movement support for the actor is needed.

I am available to realise the physical elements of a production for stage or camera. As a Movement Director, I am interested in working with the Director to realise the physical condition and gesturel language of a character, further assisting in the physical embodiment of the text. I am also able to create and provide movement direction for a particular dramatic scenario, crowd or chorus scene. Assistance in the safe delivery of stage fights or any other work that is movement based, for example etiquette work, is also available.

Past training as an actor means that I have an understanding of how to relate dance into the work and to the breath for the actor. With over 20 years dance training I am able to create any dance-based project. (I also have professional knowledge of what is required of a vocalist); When it comes to song and dance, by relating the work to breath and musical phrasing the work can incorporate all of the disciplines required for performance. My ability to site read musical scores means I am able to assist the Director and Musical Director with dance that is fitting to the score.
I have also choreographed over 50 'First Dances' for wedding couples (all non dancers), and worked with Boards of Directors to deliver corporate icebreakers for events and conferences. A wide range of dance styles can be transformed into a sequence that fits the brief.
